Below is a meditation/visualization to receive Muruga's blessings and a description of a personal daily ancestor ritual called Tarpanam (i.e., feeding the ancestors). Daily tarpanam ritual is an essential practice. You can do both the meditation and the tarpanam ritual throughout the day whenever you have the time and opportunity to do so.

For Muruga's blessings (for this last day of Skanda Shasti, and beyond):

Visualize Valli (wife of Muruga), placing her feet on your head over the right and left brain. There is nothing else to think about other than doing this technique. The mind won't understand, however, the soul will know what it means. Do this as often as possible with eyes open during the day or in meditation. There are tremendous blessings in doing this during the 6 days of Skanda Shasti.

Daily Tarpanam Ritual:
Place sesame seeds (preferably black but the beige ones are okay) and rice powder (or a couple of regular rice grains) in your right hand and sprinkle a few drops of water over it. Then pray to your ancestors, and the gods and goddesses, to accept your gift and ask for their blessings (and ask that they make sure that you receive the blessings). Ask that any ancestors who are trapped on the earth plane are released - that their karmas are forgiven and their souls find peace as they move to the other side. Then throw away the seeds. This is very powerful and of great benefit to you as well as a great service for your entire family.

Blessings, Baba
